Reckonings

Life in Alabama brings surprises, lessons and the occasional cultural collision. Reckoning is where I lay those moments on the table and examine them in the light: identity tested, belonging questioned and dignity reclaimed. Here, reflection sits beside frustration and honest questions are allowed to breathe.

I share stories of wrongful assumptions, careless insults and needless obstacles placed in my path simply because I am an immigrant. But Reckoning is not only about what wounds us. It is also about what shapes us. It traces the quiet growth that follows discomfort, the resilience born from misunderstanding and the small, hard-earned victories that teach us empathy.

This is a space to look closely at what keeps us from seeing one another clearly, to ask the difficult questions we often avoid and to honor the ways we still manage to connect, forgive and find common ground.

Here, even the sharpest moments are sanded into understanding.
